2010 Kia Forte SX
|
New models are coming out of Korean factories at an astonishing rate--the latest being the Kia Forte.
It obviously is designed to compete with the popular Ford Focus and Mazda 3, and bares a strong resemblance to the Focus in looks, interior space and large trunk.
Kia has given the Forte SX a lively 2.4 liter 4 coupled to a 5 speed automatic, with the first two gears cleverly set up to give the car a lively take-off. The automatic also shifts quickly under load, so highway passing is reasonably quick, too, I would strongly recommend for all Kias--take the 2.4 engine rather than the 2.0 for performance and quietness.
Highway mileage should be in the low to mid 30s.
The Fortes ride is firmish, steering precise, brakes good, and Kia has put all the usual safety equipment on this model including electronic stability control.
Without leather and sunroof, the price is about $18,000. Our fully equipped model came to $20,500.
