3 Stanford Students Die in Big Sur Crash

BIG SUR, Calif. (AP)  -- Three Stanford University students heading for a weekend retreat are dead after their Jeep Cherokee tumbled over a cliff and landed 300 yards at the ocean's edge near Big Sur.

The university says 28-year-old Viet Nguyen of Raleigh, North Carolina, 29-year-old Chris Sahm of Long Island, New York, and 23-year-old Micah Springer of Columbus, Ohio, were enrolled in Stanford's Graduate School of Business.

The three men were reported missing Friday when they failed to meet up with other students for a retreat weekend in Big Sur.

Searchers found the victims inside the demolished Jeep Cherokee that tumbled about 300 yards down a cliff off Highway 1.
