SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- San Francisco police have made an arrest in a fire thought to be arson at the Good Shepherd Convent earlier this month.
Investigators said the fire was intentionally set just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the convent on Bacon Street in the city's Portola neighborhood. Six nuns were asleep in the convent at the time of the fire, but they all got out safely.
Yesterday police served a search warrant and arrested 18-year-old Mathew Hinz in connection with the fire. Hinz is facing charges of attempted murder, arson of an inhabited dwelling, arson of a place of worship and possession of flammable materials.
