BART Stations To Get Face Lift

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. (KCBS)  -- BART stations will soon undergo a beautification overhaul paid for with millions in Proposition 1B transportation bond money.

The transit agency has receive $36 million to install new lights and windows at stations in Berkeley, San Francisco, Union City and Pleasant Hill. Over the course of ten years, it will collect $400 million in Prop 1B money, said transit spokesman Linton Johnson.

Some riders told KCBS reporter Dave Padilla they're less than bowled over by the prospect of nicer looking BART stations. Some said the money should be put to better use.
