ANTIOCH, Calif. (KCBS/SF Gate) -- Two bank robbery suspects were shot by police and a third suspect was arrested after a holdup in Antioch that investigators said could be related to a Pinole bank robbery a day earlier, as well as a heist at a Richmond Wal-Mart.
Saturday’s bank robbery happened at about 11 a.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank on A Street in Antioch, authorities said.
Officers arrived at the bank and pursued three men in a black Toyota Highlander to a neighborhood near the Antioch-Pittsburg border.
Gunfire was exchanged between police and the suspects, according to police. At the end of the chase, officers shot and wounded two of the three suspects after a confrontation, officials said.
Investigators believe the same men may be responsible for robbing the Wells Fargo Bank in Pinole Friday morning. The robbers reportedly got away in a black Toyota Highlander that was carjacked in Richmond on Thursday, Pinole police said.
Police said the suspects may be linked to the robbery of a Wal-Mart store in Richmond on Thursday.
