Bay Area Officials Seek Input For Spending Stimulus

San Francisco (KCBS)  -- The Bay Area Council Economic Institute announced Thursday that it is gathering project proposals to develop a plan for spending federal stimulus money.

"We've been asked by the Departments of Business, Transportation and Housing to help them prioritize projects that really have the potential to benefit the economy in the region for both the short and the long term," said Institute President Sean Randolph.

The group will develop a Bay Area Economic Work Plan by June 1 which will be used by state agencies to make decisions regarding the allocation of federal stimulus funds coming to the Bay Area through the state.

"We're working with all the Bay Area's leading economic development organizations and business associations and with a lot of subject matter experts to help us reach out to cities and counties and companies and organizations with project ideas," said Randolph.

The Institute is looking for projects that will create and sustain jobs, have the potential to generate long term growth and show cooperation between cities and counties.
