Bicyclists Ride in Honor AIDS Victims

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)  -- Dressed in red and forming a human AIDS ribbon, a group of bicycle riders spent Sunday morning pedaling across the Golden Gate Bridge to commemorate Monday's upcoming anniversary of the AIDS pandemic.

The group calls themselves “Positive Riders,” because many of them are HIV positive. Yet despite their personal battles with the disease, many of the riders appeared to be very healthy as they peddled to Mill Valley and returned to Golden Gate Park. Many credit their ability to accomplish such athletic feats to recent advancements in medical treatments.

ListenKCBS’ Tim Ryan reports

The 28 mile ride marks the 28th year of the AIDS pandemic.

Monday, December 1 is Worlds AIDS Day.
