SAN DIEGO (KCBS) -- Gov. Schwarzenegger on Friday reaffirmed his pledge to skip the Republican National Convention and remain in Sacramento unless California passes a budget.
He promised that any budget he signed would include long-term provisions such as a rainy day fund to stave off the impasse that’s gone on for two months.
“It is time for politicians up there to stop putting people through this budget roller coaster ride every time the economy goes down,” he said, speaking to a meeting of the California State Association of Counties in San Diego.
The governor and the legislature have locked horns over how to close a budget estimated around $15 billion. Schwarzenegger’s proposed solutions include increasing the sales tax and more than $10 billion in cuts.
