HAYWARD, Calif. (KCBS/AP) - Investigators said it could be weeks before they know exactly how a man was killed on southbound I-880 in Hayward this morning.
The CHP found the man around 6:50 a.m. Thursday, his remains scattered across a long stretch of road. The highway was shut down for over two hours to examine the crime scene, resulting in massive traffic jams.
The CHP is asking for the public’s help in determining why the man was on the freeway in the first place. They said it’s not known whether the Latino man, believed to be in his 50s, was a pedestrian. However, they are investigating the death as a homicide.
