SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The thousands of wildfires burning in Northern California have not affected the state's top wine regions so far, but vintners are mildly concerned it could.
Some winemakers wonder how the smoke from the fires could affect the flavor of the grapes, according to Nick Frey, the president of the Sonoma County Wine Grape Commission.
But it's not an overriding concern since smoke flavor can be filtered out. Vintners are more worried about frost, heat spikes, and high wind during fruit set, Frey said.
