Congresswoman Speier Supports Obama

picture of Congresswoman Jackie Speiers and Senator Barack Obama SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – California congresswoman Jackie Speier returned to the Bay Area Saturday to host a town hall meeting for her constituents.

Speier used the venue as a way to reiterate her views on several major issues of the election, and support Presidential candidate Barack Obama’s current trip abroad.

“I’m very clear about the war in Iraq. I want our men and women out of there. I want us to start moving them out there the first day President Obama is in office” says Speier.

Obama has said he intends to end the U.S. military combat role in Iraq if elected President. In contrast, Obama wants increase troop levels in Afghanistan, where he is currently touring the war torn countryside.

“It’s very important for him to be there. I think it is a great opportunity for him to say I told you so,” says Speier.

Speier most recently made headlines for pushing for a 60 mph national speed limit.
