Cost of Parking in San Francisco Is Going Up

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)  -- It's going to be more expensive to park in San Francisco, thanks to a city budget that calls for higher fees beginning Friday.

That means you will pay more for virtually everything associated with your car, whether it's applying for a parking permit or paying off a parking ticket, said Judson True, spokesman for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

"Folks who get parking citations will see an increase of about $10 per citation for any citation that is now under $100," said True. So for example, a $40 ticket for an expired meter will cost you $50 on Friday.

Supervisor Bevan Dufty says he voted reluctantly for the fee increases, but he says it's necessary because this is a tough budget year.
