DALY CITY, Calif. (KCBS) -- Teachers from Daly City’s elementary schools gathered on the corner of El Camino Real and Serramonte Streets Wednesday to protest Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposed billions in budget cuts to education.
”I know he has some new news today that is to soft peddle those cuts, but there still are cuts there. Obviously our state has a big crunch and we’re in need of additional revenue,” said Melinda Dart, the president of the teacher’s union in Daly City.
Teachers say cuts could lead to layoffs, increased class sizes and reduced compensation for educators and other school employees.
