EL CERRITO, Calif. (KCBS) -- An El Cerrito restaurant was targeted by robbers Tuesday night in a takeover-style robbery, the latest in a string of similar crimes in the East Bay.
Two armed men stormed into Yuet Foo Asian Seafood restaurant on San Pablo Avenue near the Richmond border about 10 p.m., according to police. But this time, the robbers did not wear their usual hoodie sweatshirts and masks. They were in T-shirts and pants which allowed those in the restaurant to get a look at their faces.
Police are now working on a composite sketch of one of the suspects and hope to release that soon.
There have been a rash of businesses around the Bay Area, mostly in Oakland.
Oakland Police Chief Wayne Tucker speculates that intense media coverage of the crimes has sparked copycat crimes. He says it's also possible that the robbers who have been hitting local eateries have moved on to other cities because of increased security in Oakland.
Oakland police are now offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to arrests in the cases.
