SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The National Weather Service has extended its excessive heat outlook to Friday for the entire San Francisco and Monterey bay region.
Forecasters say hot temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday are forecast to continue into Friday as a strong ridge of high pressure will remain over the area. Another day of well above normal temperatures can be expected on Friday with highs from the 90s and up to 105 degrees for many inland areas.
Conditions along the coast and in the city of San Francisco are expected to be a bit cooler by Friday.
The NWS warns people to take precautions against the heat by limiting stressful outdoor activities during the hottest time of day and by drinking plenty of water. Never leave children, the elderly or pets unattended in enclosed vehicles, even for a short time. Temperatures quickly rise to life-threatening levels even when the windows are partially open.
