First Caucus Ever! 1/29/08

Was this one so hard? Apparently, it was, since Poor Old Tom finished last - even though he was first.  Yes, the correct answer was C - Thomas Jefferson!  In 1804, Democratic members of Congress held a caucus, the first one in American history, to choose their party's presidential candidate.  They decided to nominate the incumbent president, Thomas Jefferson, who went on to win re-election.

There are 23 primaries and caucuses this Super Tuesday. When was the very first time a presidential nominee was chosen at a caucus - and who was it?
A. 1912 - Woodrow Wilson
  29%
B. 1868 - Ulysses S. Grant
  29%
C. 1804 - Thomas Jefferson
  14%
D. 1836 - Martin Van Buren
  29%
