Food historians delve into the history of food going back to prehistoric times of hunters and gatherers.  It's really a beautiful volume with lots of pictures.  Pleasures of Consumption, Feasting and Fasting, the Birth of the Modern Consumer Age... There's also a section that describes the evolution of food within the Middle East.  This book is really intriguing and fascinating!
