While the Fusion Hybrid is getting the most publicity with its 40-plus mileage, the standard Fusions are no laggards---the new 4 cylinder engine with readings in the high 30s, and our test car--a very lively V6==3.5 liters , 240 horsepower, and highway mileage from around 27 to 30.
The V6 is a delightful engine, peppy but quiet, and coupled to a quick shifting 6 speed automatic.
Ride and handling of the Fusion are first rate; seating quite roomy and trunk extra large.
Our test car with 8-thousand miles on it was as solid as any new car in its field.
Fusion prices for the nicely equipped SEL models run from $24,000 to 28. If there's anything more comfortable and roadable in this price range, I haven't found it.
