SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCBS/AP) -- California has added 53,000 payroll jobs and its unemployment rate is holding steady.
The Employment Development Department says the April figures released Friday show the state jobless rate was 6.2 percent, unchanged from March but up a percentage point from the year-ago period.
A little more than 1.1 million Californians were looking for work last month - down 1,000 from March but up nearly 200,000 from April 2007.
