SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Bay Area Rapid Transit trains were experiencing system-wide delays of 20 to 30 minutes Thursday afternoon due to heat.
”Every time we get a heat wave we start encountering problems, so this isn’t something that caught us by surprise, in fact we are at maximum staffing now, anticipating that we would have heat problems,” said BART Spokesman Linton Johnson.

The heat-related problems began around noon Thursday in the areas of San Leandro, Pittsburg/Bay Point and Daly City, initially delaying trains by about 45 minutes.
Commuters are advised to arrive at BART stations between 20 and 30 minutes early and to listen to announcements as some train lines may be switched to get service back on time.
There was no estimate of when the trains would be back on a normal schedule.
