Hit-And-Run Accident Kills Alameda Man

picture of police tape SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Shoreline Drive in Alameda was the scene was of a fatal hit-and-run early Saturday morning.

“When I responded to the scene and saw all the yellow tape for blocks and blocks, was that it was such a huge crime scene. I had never seen anything like that before,” said Lieutenant David Boersma of the Alameda Police Department.

911 calls came pouring in with callers describing a car allegedly driving recklessly on a pedestrian walkway. When Alameda Police reached the scene they found an elderly Alameda man who had been struck and killed by the motorist.

“He is being charged with vehicular manslaughter as well as felony hit and run driving.”

Police are awaiting toxicology reports. The driver could face additional charges later.
