OAKLAND, Calif. (KCBS) -- The attorney for a young man accused of killing Oakland journalist Chauncey Bailey nearly a year ago claims a newly received videotape exonerates his client.
LeRue Grim claims law enforcement videotape shows Devaughndre Broussard was ordered by Yusuf Bey IV, the leader of the now-defunct Your Black Muslim Bakery, to falsely confess to Bailey's murder.
Broussard, charged with murder in the 2007 assassination of Bailey, made a brief appearance Friday in Alameda County Superior Court, where the scheduling of his trial was postponed until September.
Judge C. Don Clay granted the delay to allow Grim more time to review evidence in the case. Clay set Sept. 19 for a hearing to set a trial date.
