SILICON VALLEY, Calif. (KCBS) -- Two dozen mayors from around Silicon Valley gathered in San Jose this week
to discuss among other things, maintaining the lead in the clean technology industry.
The Silicon Valley Mayors Summit was hosted by San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed.
KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports
" There are many things we have in common," Reed said. "One of those is our interest to make sure Silicon Valley remains the innovation center of the world. We support our clean tech industries and we all want to reduce our green house gas emissions, reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to solving the world climate problems."
CEO of Joint Venture Silicon Valley Russell Hancock says that each of the cities has a common goal.
"As cities, we have a responsibility to make sure there's a habitat in place," he said. "That there's an environment where innovation and entrepreneurship can thrive."
The group hopes to come up with uniform standards and an agreement on permitting fees for the cleantech industry.
