VALLEJO, Calif. (KCBS) -- The U.S. Postal Service resumed delivery this week on Frey Place in Vallejo where a resident threatened carriers.
"A relief carrier didn't know this person and couldn't identify this person and refused to hand over the mail because that's the regulation. And apparently this person got upset. There were some words exchanged and apparently the resident allegedly spit on the carrier," explained Augustine Ruiz, a spokesperson for the Postal Service.
Ruiz said the trouble didn't stop when the regular carrier returned to the route. The same home owner verbally threatened him as well.
The two incidents prompted a week-long suspension of delivery to four to six houses. Those residents had to go to the post office to get their mail.
