Melissa Culross

Melissa Culross had her mind set on becoming the next great American author when she was side-lined by radio during her college years. After graduating from Brown University with a degree in English and American literature in 1992, Melissa worked as a radio disc jockey, news anchor and traffic reporter in Boston and Providence, Rhode Island. She began working at KCBS as a production assistant mere weeks after moving to the Bay Area in late 1996. After a short few months, Melissa left KCBS to work on the air as a disc jockey for sister station KLLC (Alice@ 97.3) and later KIOI (Star 101.3). In August, 2004, she returned to KCBS as a fill-in anchor and became an anchor-reporter-producer in July, 2005.

Raised in Pasadena, Melissa has also studied acting and performed with several small Bay Area theatre companies. She is a passionate music fan and often can be spotted donning her high heels and pearls at live music shows around town. A few of her co-workers will often look to her for recommendations on San Francisco's nightlife, and they have yet to tell her they've been disappointed. The highly social Melissa also enjoys running, going to the theatre, baseball, reading and spending time at a good spa. And she lives out her great American writer dream as a contributor for the neighborhood newspaper, The San Francisco Northside.
