PALO ALTO, Calif. (KCBS) -- Coming to a computer near you: a new way to find about clinical trials for new drugs.
Stanford University is playing a part in the new venture called Research Match.
It's the product of a network of 46 medical research facilities across the country--including Stanford. The school's Dr Steve Alexander says it aims to solve a critical problem in medical research--finding enough volunteers.
KCBS' Patti Reising reports
"We're always, all of us who do medical research, looking for new methods for increasing study subject enrollment," Alexander said.
Research Match is an online national database that will match volunteers with the appropriate clinical trials. There are other databases, including one through the National Institutes of Health and Stanford, however they aren't as focused as Research Match. www.researchmatch.org
