SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- California State Attorney General Jerry Brown announced Friday the state will not press charges against De Anza College baseball players accused of raping a teenaged girl last year.
Brown said alcohol, fuzzy memories, and lack of positive identification made it impossible to prosecute.
In March of 2007, a 17-year-old girl said she was sexually assaulted at a party in Cupertino by several De Anza College baseball players.
District Attorney Dolores Carr received heavy crticism after she declined to prosecute. She then passed the case on to Brown.
The Attorney General called the events "disgraceful," and said he would reopen the case if new evidence came to light.
