BURLINGAME, Calif. (KCBS) -- Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin is back on the campaign trail through the Midwest after wrapping up a two-day swing through California.
KCBS’ Chris Filippi Reports
Analysts are saying that Palin's first campaign visit to the Bay Area could have long-term benefits for Republicans. Palin's visit drew hundreds of supporters and protesters to the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame Sunday.
San Jose State Political Science professor and KCBS Analyst Larry Gerston says that even if Barack Obama carries California, Palin's visit will still help other Republicans.
"There are all of these "down-the-line" candidates for Congress, for the legislature, who need some support," said Gerston. "And the Republican presence there will perhaps help them survive in what otherwise might be a landslide of sorts."
The brunch raised $2.5 million for the McCain-Palin campaign. |
