SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)  -- Heavy security arrangements as the Olympic Torch passes through the city next month will likely restrict demonstrators to designated free speech zones, Mayor Gavin Newsom said Monday.

Authorities anticipate China’s policies in Tibet and Sudan will draw many protesters. Ngodup Tsering, president of the Tibetan Association of Northern California, has condemned the city’s decision to limit how demonstrations are carried out.
