Residents Notified of Mountain Lion Sightings

BELMONT, Calif. (AP) - Belmont police want residents of the city's Hallmark neighborhood to know a mountain lion has been seen wandering around the area.

Officers spent several hours distributing fliers and sending a pre-recorded phone message to residents after the lion was spotted three separate times Wednesday.

Authorities say in all three sightings, the mountain lion was seen near homes in the hillside neighborhood between Ralston Avenue and Interstate 280.

Police are emphasizing that the animal was not aggressive and that it did not attack anyone.
