Supervisors Address Financial Crisis Local Impact

picture of San Francisco City Hall SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - With the economic meltdown gripping the nation's economy the San Francisco Board of Supervisors called a meeting to discuss possible local ramifications.

“The current economic situation demands that we take this extraordinary step to demonstrate to our citizens that we are preparing for the tough challenges ahead for our cities fiscal health,” stated San Francisco Supervisors President Aaron Peskin.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom believes differently saying he anticipated the current economic troubles and prepared the city appropriately.

“We knew they’d slow down, we’re still doing better than other people. The bottom hasn’t fallen out of the local economy,” claimed the Mayor.

The Mayor's foresight was so strong he even prepared his economic stimulus plan to help the areas of the local economy that have felt the effects of the national crisis.

“We are going to have a record year this year in conventions. The hotels are still holding strong,” said Newsom.
