SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- There will be no vote this week on a controversial plan to replace an aging power plant near San Francisco's Potrero Hill with several smaller, less polluting peaker plants.
The Board of Supervisors Tuesday afternoon granted Mayor Newsom a one-week delay on the vote as his office explores cleaner alternatives.
"We're going to do everything within our power to try to move forward without the peaker plants," said Newsom.
The supervisors were unimpressed, noting that the mayor has had plenty of time to come up with greener alternatives.
"He better come up with something and something fast, so that we are not back to the same position of ground zero," said Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi.
