SAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS) -- San Jose City College is initiating a school-wide smoking ban on its campus beginning this spring semester.
In addition to the no-smoking rule inside of all buildings, the ban includes all areas outside of classrooms, athletic fields and in student gathering areas.
KCBS’ Betsy Gebhart reports
San Jose City College administrators say they had received numerous complaints from students about having to endure clouds of smoke coming from smokers near the classrooms.
The all-campus ban goes much further than most city colleges and is one of the toughest in the state. Foothill College and DeAnza College limit smoking to parking lots, while some other campuses limit to the ban to only classrooms.
