San Jose Patrol Car Hits, Injures Pedestrian

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS)  -- A patrol car hit and injured a pedestrian in East San Jose Monday morning. Police say the incident took place near 34th Street and Alum Rock Avenue at around 3 a.m.

A San Jose police spokesman tells KCBS that the officer was driving 35 miles an hour, which is the speed limit on Alum Rock, when the collision took place.

The pedestrian has been hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses say he was wearing dark clothing, and smelled of alcohol

The patrol car sustained moderate damage. Alum Rock Avenue was closed for several hours during the investigation.
