I make all my own bread at home, so I have a pretty good feel for how to read baking recipes.  The first thing I turned to was halla.  Some people are so intimated by this, I don't know why.  You make a long braid out of three strips of dough and it's just beautiful.

You can't find water bagels in the store anymore, and wow, do they make a difference!  They're a little bit denser, the crust is heavier.  The texture makes all the difference in the world. It's nothing like bagels on the market these days that are just like puffed up bread in the shape of a donut.   You can learn how to make good bagels.   Plus breads of all nations, sour dough bread, rolls, muffins, quick breads, and finally 12 menus , a morning of baking.  You can really have a lot of fun with this book.
