SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Many Bay Area parents are waiting a bit longer this year to decided what to do with their kids this summer, as a slowing economy has families looking for less-expensive options.
For many, that includes camps that are offered through charities. For example Camp Mendocino is operated by Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco.
"We get a lot of money from the federal government and from guardsmen, and from individual donations that help make it affordable for our kids, and our families," said Director Johnny McLaughlin.
Some camps are hoping for a registration boost when more families get their economic-stimulus checks from the government.
