The Bucket List
|
(PG-13)
Too many ads and trailers are taking the surprise and fun out of this terrific movie about two guys dealing with illness and death. Jack Nicholson is the owner of a chain of profitable hospitals, Morgan Freeman a mechanic who could win millions on "Jeopardy," but never had the chance. These two end up sharing a hospital room, strange bedfellows enduring terrible pain and discomfort. Then Rob Reiner's film takes a twist, and we follow these two charismatic characters as they decide to live life, pursuring all the things they want to do and all the emotions they want to feel before kicking the bucket (hence the title). Justin Zackman's script, Reiner's storytelling, an uplifting tone and witty, original characters make this a journey worth taking. When you're tired of empty, cold violence (unless it's the seemless storytelling with realistic violence in The Great Debaters..a great movie) and sick of meeting the same old gangsters and psychopaths in the movies..this one is a welcome and refreshing diversion.
