Then She Found Me
|
Rated R
Helen Hunt makes her big sceen directorial debut in this touching, funny movie about marriage, divorce, sex and adoption. Hunt stars as a teacher about to divorce her childish husband (Matthew Broderick) and discovers life on her own is as exciting as a classroom of unruly six year olds. She meets up with a troubled single father (Colin Firth) as well as a TV celebrity who just may be her own birth mother (Bette Midler.) The plot is not important..what matters is that these are people who speak and act like interesting, multi-dimensional adults. The language situations are believable, the direction confident and the characters real and memorable. Because it is a smart woman's story with complexity and adult wit, this will be a movie that mainstream Hollywood will toss away like garbage. Seek it out.
