Toyota Prius--Third Generation

The 2010 Prius is designed to appeal to those who liked the idea of an economical hybrid sedan, but wanted something a bit peppier and roomier.
It is still no rocket getting underway, but it goes along at highway speeds without feeling strained, and in relative quiet. The 2010 gets a few more miles per gallon -- 48 to 51, while horsepower is up 24 to a combined electric and gasoline figure of 134. Normally, that would be substantial, but the engine now runs at lower speed to achieve the new economy figure.
The car looks larger but the wheelbase is the same, while length is increased by only about half an inch.  Rear seat legroom is improved as is the cargo area.
The Prius is easy to drive, the ride is comfortable, but the sharply sloping windshield--as on many modern cars--reflects sunlight and can be annoying.
  Price for a well-equipped model--$24.309.
