EL SOBRANTE, Calif. (KCBS) - Authorities are responding to a car fire this morning in unincorporated Contra Costa County, close to where 3 vehicle fires were reported over the weekend and at least 10 were reported last week, a California Highway Patrol Officer said.
Units from the CHP, Richmond police, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and the county sheriff's office are responding to a vehicle fire that was reported at around 5:15 a.m. off of Appian Way near Allview Avenue in El Sobrante, CHP Officer John Short said.

A preliminary report indicates that authorities were told by a witness that a male wearing black sweatpants and a gray hoodie was seen fleeing the area, Short said.
