Massive Wildfire Still Smoldering

VALLEJO, Calif. (KCBS)  -- A massive wildfire in Vallejo Friday night shut down several lanes of Interstate 80 and threatened nearby neighborhoods.

The grassfire was first reported shortly after 11 p.m. just north of the Carquinez Bridge. The flames were racing towards homes in the Wellington Place neighborhood of Vallejo, but crews were able to get the upper hand by 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol reopened all lanes of 80 that had been closed as firefighters continued to mop up hot spots still smoldering after the overnight blaze.

There are no reports of residential damage and nobody was hurt.
