Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
|
Film biographies of musicians are satirized in this sometimes funny, sometimes silly movie about a “legendary” rock and roll idol. John C. Reilly stars as the gifted Dewey, a troubled and talented singer/guitarist. There are some real out-loud laughs in the parody of the musician’s lifestyle, a relief from the deadly serious movies of the season. The buffoonery and supporting cast is a good time, playing fine on the big screen or DVD. Wish it had stayed smart throughout, instead of dipping into the too obvious or ridiculous. Still, a few laughs go a long way these days.. and this is fine for an escapist holiday afternoon or evening.
