Strong Winds Expected Tonight

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)  -- The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect from 5 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. tomorrow for the North Bay and East Bay Hills and Mountains, as well as the Diablo Range.

Today will start off calm with increasing afternoon winds, according to forecasters. Northwesterly winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected tonight through tomorrow morning.

Strongest winds are expected first in the hills tonight when gusts of over 50 mph are possible. Along the coast winds will increase tomorrow and may gust over 40 mph by tomorrow afternoon.

Winds are expected to subside late tomorrow night, but breezy conditions will continue into Thursday.

A small craft advisory is in effect today outside the Golden Gate and inside the Bay.
