Guidelines For The Airing of Public Service Announcements on KCBS

GENERAL INFORMATION

Every year, KCBS broadcasts thousands of Public Service Announcements for non-profit community groups. KCBS broadcasts two different kinds of PSAs -- Bay Calendar announcements for dated events and generic announcements which describe the services provided by a particular group. Bay Calendar Announcements are read live by our announcers, one to three days before the events.

KCBS is eager to help your group serve the community. We prefer to broadcast PSAs that will be useful and interesting to a large number of people. We do not broadcast announcements that are controversial or political in nature.

Please note that KCBS gets hundreds of requests for public service time every week, so we cannot promise to air every announcement we receive. However, the following are guidelines that could increase your chances of getting announcements on the air:
  1. Bay Calendar announcements are fifteen second (:15) written scripts and should be sent to us at least two weeks prior to your event.
  2. Make sure your Public Service Announcement includes the basics: who, what, when, why, where...some details about your group and your event...a phone number (with area code), a web and email address (if available) which we can repeat on the air.
  3. We do, on occasion, air thirty (:30) and sixty (:60) second pre-produced PSAs, but will use them only subject to our judgment about quality, format, etc. Please feel free to call before you make, or submit a tape, with any questions about what we use and don't use.
Please email your PSAs to:  Connie C. Kim

KCBS In The Community

In addition to KCBS’ Public Service Announcement Program, we are involved in the community in other ways. KCBS supports a number of philanthropic organization including the American Red Cross, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, Habitat for Humanity, ALS and more. KCBS urges its listeners to get involved in the community. The Bay Area is a great place to live with great people and great things to do. To learn more about how you can get involved with one of KCBS’ designated charities or any charity, feel free to contact KCBS for more information.
