Survey: Americans Willing to Pay for Green Products

money graphicSAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS)  -- A new survey indicates millions of Americans are willing to pay more money for high-tech products that are environmentally friendly.

Twelve percent of those polled by Forrester Research say they would pay extra for PCs and televisions that are more energy efficient or made by green companies.

"Scores of companies in Silicon Valley have employed practices to make not only their products greener, but also their processes greener," said Silicon Valley Leadership Group President Carl Guardino. "What they may not have done that well is started that process of marketing to customers, whether those are business customers or directly to consumers, the green that they have put into their products."

The survey also found that 41 of respondents are concerned about the environment but not interested in spending more for green products. The remaining 47 percent said they were not concerned about the environment.
