Still No Sign of Missing IRS Investigator

ruizMILL VALLEY, Calif. (KCBS)  -- A major search over the weekend on Marin's Mount Tamalpais, for a missing IRS investigator, turned up no trace of the woman. More than 200 volunteers spent their weekend looking for 25-year-old Veronica "Nikki" Ruiz.

The Mill Valley woman told a friend last Monday that she was going to hike Mt. Tam, and sister Mary Chris says she hasn't been seen since. Ruiz was described as being troubled lately over a relationship, and could have been intent on harming herself.

”There is that possibility, but you try not to think about it. You hope that’s not it, you just hope to find her now,” said Chris.

Ruiz was believed to be carrying both her IRS badge and service weapon. Neither item have been located.

A public search effort is over, but the Ruiz family says they'll continue the volunteer effort until Nikki is found.
