SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- A non-profit has come up with a unique way for you to give a gift, and donate money at the same time this holiday season.
”Unlike traditional giving, where you make a donation to the organization, and the organization decides how to use your money, Global Giving is all about direct-to-project giving,” said Joan Ochi, spokesperson for the non-profit.
With Global Giving, you can be very specific about where you want your dollars to go.
”You decide, for example, that you want to make a contribution to help a girl go to school in Afghanistan, or provide clean water for a village in Africa. Your contribution goes directly to that project,” said Ochi.
Gift cards from Global Giving have been popular this holiday season among corporations as well as individuals.
”It’s like a gift certificate, but instead of buying something, the recipient gets to go online and figure out how they want to use that contribution,” said Ochi.
