SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The number of stabbings in the city nearly doubled, and overall San Francisco saw more homicides in 2007 than since 1995. 89 people were killed in San Francisco in 2007, the most since 1995.
The report submitted Tuesday to the Board of Supervisors Public Safety Committee found that of the 89 victims, there were fewer blacks killed. The Western Addition even enjoyed a seven-month stretch with no homicides, a trend the supervisors attributed to increased patrols.
But there were more Latino victims than previous years in all parts of the city. In all, only nine of those killed were white.
