SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Hundreds of thousands of spectators bundled up and braved the chilly temperatures of Pasadena today to see the 118th Rose Parade. This year’s grand marshal was Star Wars filmmaker George Lucas, and many in attendance came specifically to see a three-piece entry honoring the 30th anniversary of the science fiction classics.
Publicity Director for Lucasfilms John Sing said the 200 stormtroopers in the parade came from 22 countries and 36 U.S. states.
"We had people dressed as Star Wars characters in the stands and on the street. The cheers that went up for the characters and the floats and for George himself, when he came by as grand marshal was really quite a sight to see," he said.
