SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- San Francisco Supervisors have approved one Newsom appointee to the Public Utilities Commission and rejected another.
PUC Commissioners Ryan Brooks and Richard Sklar were reappointed by the mayor, and now support Newsom’s decision to oust PUC General Manager Susan Leal, for reasons that no one in office is willing to talk about. Brooks lost his seat, Sklar survived by one vote.
Sklar had called Leal the 500-pound elephant in the room, and said they had management differences.
”I understand members of the board are out of joint over Ms. Leal’s firing. I feel bad about that,” said Sklar.
Sklar waged a massive lobbying campaign against Leal, even getting Nancy Pelosi to weigh in on his behalf.
